  • Job Description

    Position Summary

    At Covenant Care, we believe that our residents deserve exceptional customer service and a compassionate team of employees who will support them to thrive and live their lives to their fullest potential. As a member of the care team, and in accordance with Covenant Care’s Mission, Vision, and Values the Nurse Educator will support this vision by ensuring the delivery of quality resident care and support services.  Through innovation, resourcefulness and collaboration, this position will support a vision of excellence in nursing practice by enhancing staff development, orientation, education, and performance evaluation through their expertise, support, and direction in clinical practice activities. You will incorporate best practices and evidence-based standards into education, facilitate orientations and learning programs, monitor/provide feedback on staff performance (in conjunction with Supervisor), and evaluate effectiveness of holistic resident care delivered, addressing any issues identified.

    You will function independently as a role model for nursing staff, assisting them to grow and make meaningful contributions, helping them to be resourceful and collaborative and fostering an environment of empowerment and trust where we collaborate to improve in all that we do.

    Your commitment to employee development, quality and safety will be demonstrated through your innovative and supportive instructional style and methods of communication.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with three to five years of nursing experience required, preferably in a seniors community care setting.
    • Experience in program development and instructional design required.
    • Post secondary adult education certification or related experience is required.
    • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills
    • A passion and commitment to senior’s care through mission fidelity and customer service.
    • Experience instructing groups of varying background and size required.
    • Active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required.
    • Current BLS (Level C) Healthcare Provider certification required.
    • Requires flexible schedule with the ability to work alternate shifts as needed
    • Capacity to engage in ethical reflection and values based decision-making, and apply Catholic social teaching to relevant business and operational matters.
