    Position Summary:


    The Activity Aide assists in the planning, implementing and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. Some job duties of the Activity Aide include:


    • Working with the Recreation Manager and residents in the development and delivery of innovative recreation and leisure programs that promote a quality of life experience.
    • Coordination, encouragement and motivation of residents to be as fully involved and independent as possible to participate in programs.
    • Ensuring activity equipment and supplies are used, maintained and stored in a safe, clean and efficient manner and Reporting of unsafe or faulty equipment to manager
    • Maintains resident documentation/charting as directed by policy/practice.
    • Actively participates in meetings, committees and educational in-services as required
    • Promotes and publicizes programs and special events



    • Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation Aide (gerontology).
    • Standard First Aid & CPR training.
    • Valid Class 4 Driver’s License
    • One year in an Assisted Living/Continuing Care environment preferred.
    • Previous experience providing recreation therapy to senior and physically challenged populations.
    • Appreciation and interest in volunteerism is essential.
    • Effective verbal and written (English) communication skills.
    • Effective organizational skills.
    • Computer skills and knowledge.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple work demands.
    • Organized and flexible.
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as working within a team environment.
    • Good assertiveness and stress management skills.
