  • Job Description

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Resident Care Supervisor, through the promotion of resident choice and independence, the Activity Assistant fosters and maintains effective interactions and relationships with peers, supervisors, managers, residents, families, physicians, voulnteers  and community resource providers. The successful incumbent will plan, implement and deliver goal oriented programs and services designed to assist residents in achieving optimal levels of functioning in leisure experience and programming of their choice. An appreciation and understanding of volunteerism is essential in this role. 

    As a member of the care team, the Activity Assistant will act as an ambassador and role model in accordance with Covenant Care’s Mission, Vision, and Values.


    • Minimum Grade 12 required
    • Current Recreation Therapy Assistant Certificate required; empasis on gerontolgy perferred
    • Minimum one (1) year in an assisted living/continuing care environment perferred
    • Standard First Aid & CPR training required
    • Current Food Safe certificate required
    • Previous experience providing recreation therapy to geriatric and physically challenged populations
